Goverment college of Engineering Tirunelveli was established in October 1981. This Institution is ideally located in an extent
 of about 23 hectares. The college campus lies on Tirunelveli - Trivandrum National Highway. The Department of Computer Science 
and Engineering was started in the year 1989. 
     The Post Graduate course in Computer Science and Engineering was started during 1994-95. The college has sound
infrastructure with well eqipped laboratories, workshops, Computer Centre, Library and Qualified faculty members.

     This nstitution has been selected by world bank to enhance the quality of Tecnical Education by funding 10 Crores. It is 
also been recoginized by the Anna University as Regional Research Centre for Ph.D and M.S Programmes. At present the college is 
affiliated to Anna university -Tirunelveli- 7.
